DYNAMIC and upcoming Glory Ministries International founder celebrated his birthday in style taking time to visit the aged at Bumhudzo Old People's Home in Chitungwiza.

It was a break from the ongoing Tiyambuke International Christian Convention (TICC) to remember the less privileged. The humanitarian deed was a response to Apostle Sibiya's call to give to the poor coincided with his birthday celebrations.

The event was an eye opener to associate with the less fortunate. In an interview with the Glory Media, he said: 'Unlike us the young who can work, these elderly cannot work for themselves. When you help your elders, their blessing will flow to us. Giving is more blessed than receiving.'

Glory Ministries also champions for social relevance in as per the church’s vision.

'In line with our social responsibility, we were established to serve the community. When a prophet is born, it must destroy fear in people and bring good news. People's lives must change.'

Late in the afternoon, a delegation led by Apostle Sibiya left Bethel Worship Centre for the home.

Bumhudzo Old People's Home in Chitungwiza houses about 48 aged people, some who were abandoned by their families. With nowhere else to find shelter and a decent meal this is the only place they call home.

The place was established 1974 by Salvation Army to assist destitute foreigners but due to recurrent economic challenges, the resources are getting fewer. Initially, the sanctuary was meant for destitute foreigners but due to high figures, they now accept even locals.

'The founders only established the centre but they do not provide resources. Many of the elderly do not have known relatives to visit them.

The story at the home is challenging, but there is still hope.

82-year-old Mayo Simango is another resident. He recites his story in a low tone, probably weighed down with his challenging past. His grey hair confirms his advanced age.

'I worked in Harare since 1958 and was lodging in Mufakose. But when I got sick, no one helped me. In the end, my employee took me to this house. I have been here for three years.'

The presentation of the goodies was accompanied by a plea for compassionate by the Apostle.

'We have come to spend time with you. Even if others forget you, God will not forget you. We will continue blessing you. When people are abandoned and don't have any source of income they become bitter in life. This bitterness causes curses. We must learn to respect our elders.'

The home is open to well wishers.
