The widow of legendary musician Andy Brown’s , Sherry Nadine Stodart escaped jail by a whisker after being busted while in possession of drugs Mbanje( marijuana) and broncleer a drug colloquially known as bronco.
Harare magistrate, Rekina Dzikiti warned Stodart against engaging in illegal drugs, saying she should find better ways of earning a living and asked her to pay a fine of US$80.
Initially, the magistrate slapped her with 30 and 60 days in prison which she later suspended on condition that she will not commit a similar offence over the next five years.
It is the state’s case that detectives received a tip off that Stodart was in possession of the two drugs and after searching her house, they found about 200gs of marijuana and three litres of broncleer.
In her mitigation, Stodart said she used marijuana to treat her chest infections, adding that she is asthmatic.
