Dancehall musician Shadreck Kwarire aka King Shady has remixed a gospel track by Mathias Mhere titled “Ndisahwira Wako”. Shady who has been at loggerheads with a number of musicians over remixing other musicians’ songs without their consent, said this time he got the thumbs up from Mhere.

In 2011, Shady was involved in a feud with the Chimbetus for using the song “Ndourayiwa”.
And last year, he did a rendition of Charles Charamba’s “Machira Chete” without the artiste’s consent.

“I talked to Mhere on that at Gwanzura Stadium at the Chipaz Bhora and we agreed about that,” said Shady.
He said he was a church goer who is inspired by gospel songs which he in turn remixes into dancehall.

“When it is pure gospel some people do not take chances to listen to them, but if we make them dancehall, people might listen to the message,” said King Shady.

The musician has been featuring at gospel concerts, performing some of his renditions. Contacted for comment, Mhere said he gave the musician the green light to record his own version of “Ndisahwira Wako”.
“He made the request at Gwanzura Stadium and I did not see anything wrong in granting him the permission to record his version of the song,” said Mhere.

Sources close to King Shady said the musician only takes advantage of popular gospel songs and makes them his own.
Shady is not the first musician to change gospel songs into dancehall songs. In 2011, Sniper changed Blessing Shumba’s “Hama Dzatinadzo” and gave the song his own flair which worked.
