A CHIREDZI woman, last week, allegedly went into a trance and burnt her husband with a scorching hot pressing iron before stabbing him several times in the face.
The had man infuriated his wife by offering to prepare his own food since she was busy with other household chores.
Nanzeni Ncube, 24, was convicted after pleading to guilty to domestic violence when she appeared before Chiredzi magistrate Honest Musiiwa.
She was sentenced to seven months in prison with two months suspended on condition she does not commit a similar offense in the next five years.
Prosecutor Gladmore Gwara told how the husband, Oliver Machani, arrived home from the shops in the evening and asked for food from his wife who was ironing some clothes.
The court heard that Machani decided to prepare his own meal since the wife was busy ironing.
However, this did not go down well with Ncube who went crackers and charged towards the husband with a hot iron which she used to burn him on the cheek.
Not done, Ncube, while shouting obscenities, then proceeded to take a kitchen knife and stab the husband in the face several times.
She only stopped the frenzied attack after a neighbour, Jine Makoni, who heard the scuffles, restrained her, the court was told.
A police report was filed and Machani was ferried to Chiredzi general hospital for treatment.
