VALENTINE’S Day is known around the world as an opportunity to celebrate love.

Lovers express their love for each other by presenting red roses and sending each other humorous or sentimental cards and gifts wrapped in Valentine colours.

It is one of the busiest times of the year for most restaurants, boutiques and salons as both men and women prepare for the day.

Women in Zimbabwe are often seen running around trying to have their best hairstyle done and looking for that perfect outfit to wear as they somehow know their men will take them out to expensive restaurants and hotels on this day to spoil them.

For some, Valentine’s Day is a day to pop out those special four words “Will you marry me?” as the setting and mood is usually conducive to do so. At restaurants, there are usually countless rings to hide, requests for “the most romantic table,” and fires to put out when couples decide to break up in the middle of the dining room.

Instead of being systematic, lovers this year have a rare opportunity to celebrate their love for each other with a choice of a romantic getaway on the biggest boat on the Zambezi River – the Zambezi Explorer.

The boat in Victoria Falls will, on Valentine’s Day, host two cruises for lovers – the Zambezi Reflections and the Love Boat.

For $130, the Love boat will be a two-hour sunset cruise with romantic music being played and cocktails served with delectable hors d’oeuvres on board.

The Zambezi Reflections will be an intimate 3-hour moonlight dinner cruise. For $160, lovers will have a rare opportunity to watch the beauty of the full moon while feeling the waves of the Zambezi River. Chocolates will be given to ladies as they board the boat and guests will be served with a 4–course sit down dinner. Each couple will have its private table decorated with red roses.
Zambezi Explorer marketing director Charles Chakanya said there was no better way to celebrate

Valentine’s Day other than on the Zambezi River.
“Full moons are strongly linked to relationships, romance, and passion. Nothing can be more romantic for lovers than spending a night together under the full moon which always brings romance and passion,” said Chakanya.

Meanwhile, a Valentine’s fashion show running under the theme Love meets fashion will be held at the Wild Thang night club at the Kingdom hotel in Vic Falls for stylish and brand conscient lovers.
Guests at the event will have an opportunity to see the latest high fashion trends being exhibited by local designers.
Designers and clothing labels which will exhibit at the show include Blinq Xclusiv Jewellery, Shadow by Sidumiso, Rebelious Klothing, Clix Clothing, Tripple L, and Litso. Bulawayo Swagg presenter, Mbo Mahocs will be the MC at the event.
The Kingdom Hotel will also spoil lovers with a Valentine’s wine and dine by candlelight event, dubbed Kingdom Romance  for $40 per couple.
Elephant Hills Resort in Vic Falls will host a Valentine’s Day 8-course dinner for couples with Vic Falls band, Mandebvu serenading lovers.
Ladies will have their make up done at the hotel for free and will also recieve free roses and champagne.
In Harare, lovers will follow the rainbow at the Rainbow Towers hotel. The hotel will host a romantic candlelit dinner for $60 per couple with Huggiez Entertainment providing entertainment.

Zim Gossip Models will celebrate the day in style as they will host the inaugural Valentine’s Diamond pageant at Kebab Centre.
