A 31-year-old Harare man has been arrested for allegedly using his fingers to sexually abuse a 4-year-old girl.
Lizwe Mangena appeared at the Harare magistrates’ court charged with aggravated indecent assault. He denied the charges when he appeared before magistrate Adonia Masawi who remanded him in custody to 6 February for trial.
Representing the State, Prosecutor Libert Gono said on 18 June at around 3pm, Mangena went to the girl’s house to ask why she had not gone to church with other children. It was said that he then asked the girl to accompany him to his place of residence. He reportedly told her that he would give her a piece of cake when she accompanies him to his house.
The
court heard that Mangena gave the girl a piece of cake before asking
her to sit on his lap. The 4-year old reportedly complied. Mangena was
also accused of asking the young girl to remove her clothes before he
shoved his finger into the toddler’s privates, it is alleged.
The matter came to light after the girl’s parents noticed some bruises on her privates, which were also confirmed by a medical report presented in the court. The 31-year-old man was arrested and hauled before the court.
